The artistic works of Rune Søchting are in the
intersection of music composition, performance and installations with a main focus on sound. He has been working with
a number of different formats and media such as installations, video,
performances as well as strictly sound-based pieces. His debut-cd "abstrakt" was released in 2005, a new cd air/objects were released in 2010.
He has been teaching experimental work with sound, techniques and the
history of sound based art in different contexts, among others at the Art
Academy of Copenhagen, and the IT-University. Since 2007 he was
the coordinator for Nordic Sound Art, a two-year Joint Master program
for work with sound based art within the Nordic Art Academies. He has conducted numerous workshops, lately in India and Hong Kong. He is currently writing a Ph.d. on sound as a social and spatial phenomenon.
In 2010 he curated a series of sound based works with Kristoffer Akselbo in the gallery IMO in copenhagen. He is currently co-curating an online exhibition with Hong Kong based video artists for Netfilmmakers.dk
